Who went into the war on top?

I think that Germany entered the war on top.  Looking at the statistics, Germany had the most soldiers, with numbers up to 2,200,000 men.  That is way more than any other armed force in 1914.  They also had 97 warships.  Although Great Britain had 185, Germany still had more than all the other countries not including Great Britain.  Looking at their reserves, they had 8.5 million men.  Austria-Hungary, on the other hand, had only 3 million.  As one could easily see, Germany was well-prepared.  Germany also had a larger population than Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria by far.  This all just adds to the brilliance of their strategy going into the war.

I agree. Germany had the most soldiers that were ready to fight and most importantly knew how to fight. Althought they didn't have as big of a navy as Britian, it was still the second largest, and no one was even close at that time to match up with the British navy. So Germany was the clear favorite heading in.

I also agree. Germany was clearly ontop and more prepared than any other country in Europe. They were truly the super power at that time period. They also had well trained and willing solidiers that would fight to the death, and millions more in the reserve ready for battle.

Germany was very powerful going into World War I. This may be why they were so confident being allied with Austria-Hungary, and ready to go to war with any country if they had to. The war may have lasted long because of the powerful army Germany had as well.
