Mel Gibson movie...

Today in class we watched a Mel Gibson movie called Gallipoli.  There was a part where the general kept ordering his soldiers to get out of the trench and basically run for their lives.  They went out in waves.  All of the men died, pretty much.  It was almost like suicide.  I think it was a very stupid strategy, to be honest.  I did not see any possible benefit of doing that.  All of their men were just getting shot; they never got any advance.  The general even said, "I don't want to command them to do anything I wouldn't do."  Yet he kept blowing his whistle for them to go.  It just added to the fact that this war was a complete disaster in the trenches.
